Arrangements for the visit of about 5,000 Sikh pilgrims from India and other countries on the occasion of 537th birth anniversary of their spiritual head Baba Guru Nanak are being finalised by the Evacuee Trust Property board (ETPB) and other relevant agencies.

According to the ETPB sources, as many as 3,000 Sikh Yatrees from India will participate in the birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak at Gurdwara Janam Asthan during their stay in Pakistan from November 13 to 15.

The ETPB, in collaboration with the District government, is engaged to arrange every facility for the visitors to make their stay comfortable.

A high level meeting in this connection was held at the Gurdwara Janam Asthan, which was presided over by District Nazim Pir Mumtaz Ali Shah.

Heads of all the concerned departments, including District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Chaudhry Fazeel Asghar, DPO Tahir Alam Khan, DOR Syed Najam-ul-Hassan Naqvi, Tehsil Nazim and ETPB Deputy Administrator Shahid Khalid Khan and others attended the meeting.

A batch of 3,000 Indian Sikh pilgrims will reach Pakistan on November 10 through Wagha Railway Station. Soon after their arrival, they will visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib at Hassan Abdal and stay there till November 12.

The visiting Sikh Yatrees will reach Nankana Sahib from Hassan Abdal in the morning of November 13 by three 'special Sikh pilgrim trains' to attend the main function at Gurdwara Janam Asthan at the birthplace of Baba Guru Nanak.

The celebrations include traditional Akhand Path, Keertan, Bhog followed by religious rites and rituals.
